The AAII Phoenix Chapter presents...

"Profit from a Rapidly Changing World in 2013"

    Discussed by:

    Robert Hsu
President, Absolute Return Capital Advisors LLC

Saddled with aging population and heavy entitlements, Europe sinks into recession as socialist leaders take control in France and the U.K. Here in America, a demographic crisis is also brewing, as 70 million baby boomers gradually enter retirement age in the coming years. As growth slows, much of the world counted on emerging markets such as China and India to be growth engines for the global economy, but both economies are also slowing down. In a zero-interest rate environment, how can investors generate enough returns to retire? International money manager Robert Hsu will share with you his strategies that earned solid double-digit average annual returns by profiting from major global trends that will continue in 2013.

Due to greater uncertainties, financial planning after retirement becomes more challenging. The focus of this SIG is financial planning, with an emphasis on investing for retirement income. Our group welcomes both experienced and new investors. The February topic is “Protecting Yourself from Fraud” with guest speaker attorney Ben Himmelstein.

Health Care Reform and Medicare SIG, Saturday, February 9, 2013, 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. (after the chapter meeting in October, December, February and April). Contact: Allan Zee, allanzee@argeusgroup.com. Same date and location as chapter meeting. Cost: None.
The final rules and regulations of the Affordable Care Act are coming very quickly. New fees for insurers and policy holders, previously unknown, have been disclosed. The target date for full implementation of the law is Jan 1, 2014. At that time all U.S. citizens and legal residents will be required to purchase government approved health insurance or pay a fine/fee/tax. What is the penalty and will it be enough to persuade those healthy uninsured to purchase insurance? What will premiums look like in 2014? We’ll talk about the Medicare changes that are being proposed in Washington and how that could affect Seniors, short and long term. Join us for an informative and spirited discussion.

Options & Analysis SIG, Saturday, February 9, 2013, 1:16 to 3:30 p.m. (after the chapter meeting). Contact: Rick Climie, rclimie@ieee.org. Same date and location as chapter meeting. Cost: None.
All AAII participants are invited to improve their wealth building and management skills through the use of option instruments and analysis tools. You will benefit from a combination of tutorial presentations and active discussions. These range from use of options to generate monthly income to “hedging” for protection of your stocks and portfolios. Participant depth ranges from initial learning to active traders. You are welcome to join our quest to combat the unprecedented market changes and uncertainties. REMEMBER: No one is as concerned about your wealth as you (or your spouse) is. We will work closely with the new Stocks and ETFs SIG. This includes rotating the meeting start time and sharing facilities.
