The AAII Denver Chapter presents...

How to Determine Major Market Tops and Bottoms

    Discussed by:

    Bryan Johnson
    Publisher, Moon Run Report

The U.S. stock market has enjoyed a major bull run since March 2009. But several signs in 2014 are worrisome, including narrowed leadership, major lagging by small caps, a move to defensive sectors and the Federal Reserve’s tapering. Are we near the top? What signs should investors (and traders) monitor to identify the time to reduce equity allocation and exposure? In this presentation, Bryan Johnson will show how his major indicator of market direction has performed and will discuss its present status and latest call.

Using Greenblatt’s Formula to Find Great Dividend Payers

    Discussed by:
    Ric Denton
    Practitioner, Greenblatt’s Magic Formula

Joel Greenblatt created a sensation in 2006 with “The Little Book that Beats the Market.” In that volume, he introduced the Greenblatt Magic Formula for selecting solid-quality, dividend-paying stocks. The performance of that approach, one that is tracked by AAII on its website, has been very strong, with significant total-return gains almost every year. Our speaker, Ric Denton, is a practitioner of the Greenblatt approach, which he will explain in detail, including showing free online databases where the underlying data are available. He will also disclose the most recently selected set of stocks selected by this method.
