The AAII Boston Chapter presents...

"Do the Strategies of Investing Greats Still Work Today?"

    Discussed by:

    John P. Reese
Founder and CEO, Validea & Validea Capital Management LLC

John P. Reese walks investors through the systematic stock selection approaches of history’s greatest investors: Warren Buffett, Peter Lynch and Ben Graham. Reese has been tracking model portfolios based on the stock selection strategies of these successful investors since 2003, and the result may surprise you. Reese will discuss the guru strategies he follows and how investors can develop a highly disciplined and repeatable portfolio management framework on top of each model. This presentation is appropriate for those interested in value and fundamental investing concepts, active stock selection and quantitative equity analysis, behavioral finance, guru-based modeling and systematic investment strategies.

"Investment Education Workshop: Oh Yeah? Prove It!"

    Discussed by:
    Gerald B. Levin
    President, GBL Asset Management, Inc.

You’ve heard it all before: Stocks for the long run. Gold is an insurance policy against inflation. Adding foreign stocks to a U.S. stock portfolio reduces that portfolio’s risk. Over many years, emerging market stocks should outperform the stocks of developed countries. Interest rates have been so low for so long, they just have to go up from here. Are any of those claims true? Dr. Gerald B. Levin will explore his investment database, going back 40 years for some investments and more than two centuries for others, to answer these questions.
