The AAII Columbus Chapter presents...

"Predatory Trading: The High-Frequency Trading That Inspired “Flash Boys”"

    Discussed by:

    W. Phil Ratcliff, CFP, ChFC
    President, Rebel Financial LLC

Over the last year, people have become more interested in a new type of trading called high-frequency trading (HFT). However, it’s not HFT in general that has interested most people as much as a subset of it called predatory trading, which was sensationalized earlier this year in Michael Lewis’ new book “Flash Boys.” Some contend that the market is “rigged” and many others maintain that it is not. However, it is clear that there is a problem and there are clear winners and victims. In this presentation, Phil Ratcliff will explore what HFT is, what predatory trading is, understand who the winners and losers are, and talk about how it affects the individual investor.
