The AAII Philadelphia Chapter presents...
"Mini-Conference on Master Limited Partnerships"
Discussed by:
Mary Lyman
Executive Director, National Association of Publicly Traded Partnerships
William H. Shea, Jr.
Chief Executive Officer, Penn Virginia Resources, L.P.
Richard Robert
Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, Vanguard Natural Resources
Because the meager amount of interest paid by money market funds and bank CDs might not cover your retirement living expenses, you should learn about master limited partnerships (MLPs)—a little-known alternative to fixed-income investments that try to generate and pay to their investors large cash streams. Because MLPs are partnerships rather than corporations, owners of MLP units are taxed only once—at the individual level—leaving extra aftertax income. Furthermore, it is as easy to buy and sell New-York-Stock-Exchange-traded units of MLPs as it is to do so for stocks. This mini-conference will have two parts. First, Mary Lyman will explain what MLPs are, what they do, how to buy them, how you report your share of your MLP income on your income tax forms, etc. Then William Shea, Jr. and Richard Robert will present two actual examples of an MLP—their own firms. If you or a loved one depend upon the income generated by your investments, this meeting is an outstanding opportunity to learn about an important, but lesser-known way to generate that income.
