The year 2010 brought a one-year disappearance of the federal estate tax, but resumption and major changes are in prospect starting in 2011. Various possible versions of a revived tax regimen are starting to coalesce in Washington, and action is likely before December 31. The final outcome could have highly varying effects on individuals and families. This presentation by a leading Colorado planning attorney will explore several scenarios and use a case-example approach to illustrating choices and their effects. The importance of trusts as well as wills is a key element of the discussion.
