The AAII Houston Chapter presents...

Breaking Even is Not an Acceptable Strategy

    Discussed by:

    Jason K. Womack
    CEO, Signum Advisors, Inc.

When did losing less or breaking even become an acceptable strategy? For decades, investors have been told by big brokers and money managers to buy and hold and, in the long term, they should make money. Since 2000, following that advice has left many portfolios negative or just breaking even. Investing in the stock market today requires accepting new market challenges that have no historical precedent and for which there is no benchmark. We believe it is time for a different perspective and a nimble risk/return strategy to confront these realities.
