Personal Finance and Post-Retirement Planning SIG, Saturday,
February 11, 2012, 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. (after the chapter meeting).
Contact: Dr. Joyce Morningstar, jmorningstar@cox.net. Same date and location as chapter meeting. Cost: None.

Due to greater uncertainties, financial planning after retirement becomes more challenging. So we’ve combined our two related SIGs into a two-part educational session on financial planning, with an emphasis on investing for income during the second hour. We’ll also discuss the impact of current events in the financial world as we learn from each other, sharing our experience and knowledge. We welcome different viewpoints and participation from both experienced and new investors.

Traders, Investors and Analysis SIG, Saturday, February 11, 2012, 1:16 to 3:30 p.m. (after the chapter meeting). Contact: Rick Climie, rclimie@ieee.org. Same date and location as chapter meeting. Cost: None.

No one is as concerned about your wealth as you (or your spouse). All AAII meeting participants are invited to improve their wealth building and management skills in the TIA activities. You will benefit from a combination of tutorial presentations and active discussions. These span investing for core portfolio growth to trading stocks and options for monthly income. The depth ranges from active portfolio managers and traders to those just starting to take charge of their investments. This includes oversight for professional managers. You will develop tools ranging from techniques for managing personal psychology to technical analysis. We will look at everything from holding GE to a weekly option on Apple. You are welcome to join our quest to combat the unprecedented market changes and uncertainties.

Vector Vest SIG, Saturday, February 4, 2012, succeeding meetings are on the first Saturday of every month, 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. Contact: Eugene Almer, 602/300-4573. Location: Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 3539 E. Stanford Dr., Paradise Valley, AZ 85253. Cost: None.

This SIG focuses on the use of the VectorVest system for equity investing strategies and market timing. Most meetings include a discussion of the current market conditions and what to expect in the month ahead using VectorVest tools, several educational presentations by members describing their experiences with various parts of the VectorVest System, and discussions and analysis of selected investment strategies and/or equities of interest to the members. For further information call 602/300-4573.

Brunch Bunch SIG, third Thursday of the month, May through September, 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Optional lunch somewhere on Mill Avenue afterward. Contact: Dr. Joyce Morningstar, jmorningstar@cox.net. Location: Davis Miles PLLC Law Firm, 80 E Rio Salado Parkway, 4th Floor, 85081. Cost: None.

Join us for lively discussions on current events in the financial world. We’ll learn from each other as we discuss different viewpoints, sharing our experience and knowledge. And the conversation continues for those who wish to go to lunch afterward. We welcome different viewpoints and participation from both experienced and new investors.

New! Health Care Reform and Medicare SIG, Saturday,
February 11, 2012, 2:15 to 3:15 p.m. (after the chapter meeting).
Contact: Allan Zee, allanzee@argeusgroup.com. Same date and location as chapter meeting. Cost: None.

Learn about the Health Care Reform Law, known as PPACA, Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, and how it will affect you. We’ll talk about how the law is being implemented, how it will be paid for, the cost to seniors, and new taxes to help pay for the benefits. We’ll also cover changes to Medicare and Medicaid, mandated insurance for all Americans, penalties for those who do not purchase medical insurance, why health care costs are high and rising, how seniors will be affected, and what the future looks like and how to plan for it. At the same time that the law is being implemented, the Supreme Court, some time in 2012, will decide its constitutionality. What happens then? There is much information to learn in order to separate fact from fiction. Each meeting will have current updates and new information.
