"Municipal Bonds: What to Do Now?"

Right now, municipal bonds are an area of high interest—but also some concern. Tax rates might rise to reduce the deficit, making sheltered income more attractive. But interest rates might rise, arguably depressing prices. State and local finances are still under pressure from reduced tax revenues, and the economy is recovering only slowly. But if the recovery holds and defaults are avoided, today’s municipal bond prices may look like bargains. We live in interesting times! This program will help you to sort things out profitably. In anticipation of high interest from members, our June 27 program will be offered twice. The first presentation will begin at 1:30 p.m. in Boulder and the second will start at 7:00 p.m. in Centennial. Please send in the registration form for the time and location you will be attending.

This event will cover both the national situation in the municipals arena and a special focus on the Colorado economy and market, which is the speaker’s particular area of expertise. The economic background will be a key variable discussed, as well as the history of defaults and payments in past times of economic distress. Special attention will be given to the safer—and less safe—types of bonds issued in Colorado.
