"Recap and Projections: Members’ Roundtable 2011–2012"
Gary Morgan, Margaret Segarra and Roger Arant Gary Morgan will review 15 key market indicators, including mutual fund and exchange-traded fund flows, interest rate spreads, inflation, and market volatility, to highlight a few. The goal is to step back and look at the longer trends, ask “what does this mean,” and challenge investors to draw their own conclusions as to where the market is headed. Margaret Segarra will distribute updated handouts on four closed-end funds, domestic and international. She will describe what a closed-end fund is and the types of closed-end funds, with their advantages and risks. She will also present details of the funds’ buying and selling, discounts and premiums, and dividends and distributions. Roger Arant coordinates the stock picker segment of the Members’ Roundtable. He will review the charts of 2011 picks, recognize the biggest movers, and solicit new picks. Arant will apply our 2011 picks to a known stock selection system, showing buys, sells and holds. Ken Roerden will demonstrate the application of AAII’s Stock Investor Pro.
