Note: Our original January 19 speaker, Fred Zimmerman, has had to cancel due to family issues. Dr. Zimmerman suggested that John Adams, a very well-qualified friend and colleague, take his place. Hopefully, Dr. Zimmerman will speak to us at our May 17 meeting.

Is it prudent to disproportionately invest in local companies, as does the Mairs and Power Growth Fund (MPGFX)? What makes for a successful regional economy? How important is location to a company’s success? How have new economies developed since 1990? What makes an economy vulnerable and susceptible to decline—and how can this situation be reversed? This presentation will address these issues and provide some background on the three ways that regions grow today, as well as current trends.
