The AAII Denver Chapter presents...
"Weird Things Money Does Inside Our Heads"
Discussed by:
Kathleen Vohs, Ph.D.
Psychology/Marketing Professor, University of Minnesota
When we see it, hear about it, think about it, or even smell it, money does some strong subconscious things inside our brains. We must understand not only the financial markets but also our own psychological makeup as we think about money and investing. What we don’t know can easily drive or bias us to do or not do things; we cannot remain ignorant of this if we want to raise our success level. A very few points discovered in Dr. Vohs’ research: even invisible, subtle money reminders powerfully affect behavior; people reminded of money are less sensitive toward others’ wants and needs than usual; when reminded of money, we become defensive, behaving oppositionally if we think others are trying to influence us. Why not invite a friend for this fascinating program by a highly engaging educator?
Note: To accommodate our speaker’s teaching and consulting schedule, this program will be received via live webcast at Koelbel. Those attending will have full opportunity to ask Dr. Vohs their questions.
