The AAII Milwaukee Chapter presents...

Quarterly Market Update: How Economic and Financial Changes Will Drive Your Investment Choices

    Discussed by:

    Ignatius Smetek L.
President and Chief Investment Officer, Arcataur Capital Management LLC

The first quarter of 2012 produced the strongest stock market returns since 1998 for many of the broad market indexes. U.S. major stock averages have increased nearly 30% from the lows in September 2011, as European economic contagion risk and sluggish domestic growth fears were replaced by improved employment trends, accelerating capital spending and improving consumer confidence. While there is growing confidence that the economic improvements are sustainable, there were similar market reactions early in the previous two years, only to see optimism dashed by slowing trends, heightened financial risks, or misguided political maneuvering. Volatility has returned. Join us for a market update to discuss the current outlook and forecast..
