Now that you have endured the first decade of the 21st century—indeed the “Lost Decade”—what is in store for you and other investors in the next 10 years? Find out why our guest speakers believe investors should prepare for another “Lost Decade” for stocks and what market benchmarks will look like when we have reached the end of this current secular bear market. What are the long-term themes for profitable opportunities? Our guest speakers will discuss what asset allocation decisions will bring investors safely through this cycle. Valuable insights and original research will be fully shared at this timely presentation. Tom and Joe will identify where the risks and opportunities are for investors now and in the coming months and years ahead.

November 10, 2012, 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. (after the chapter meeting). Contact: Dr. Joyce Morningstar, Same date and location as chapter meeting. Cost: None.
Due to greater uncertainties, financial planning after retirement becomes more challenging. The focus of this SIG is financial planning, with an emphasis on investing for retirement income. Our group welcomes different viewpoints and participation from both experienced and new investors. November’s topic is “Measuring and Managing Investment Risk.”

Health Care Reform and Medicare SIG, Saturday, November 10, 2012, 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. (after the chapter meeting in October, December, February and April). Contact: Allan Zee, Same date and location as chapter meeting. Cost: None.
The voters will have spoken on November 6. This is a historic election in many ways, but for the health care law, known as the Affordable Care Act, PPACA or Obamacare, it will be profound. Even through the Supreme Court upheld the law, depending on the outcome of the election, it could change. We’ll discuss many aspects of the law including its implementation to date and what lies ahead, the 30+ million people that will enter the health care system starting in 2014, the availability of medical professionals, tax increases in effect currently and the pending increases beginning January 1, 2013. Medicare beneficiaries will be a part of the changes no matter which way the election is decided. Join us for an informative and spirited discussion.

Options & Analysis SIG, Saturday, November 10, 2012, 1:16 to 3:30 p.m. (after the chapter meeting). Contact: Rick Climie, Same date and location as chapter meeting. Cost: None.
All AAII participants are invited to improve their wealth building and management skills through the use of option instruments and analysis tools. You will benefit from a combination of tutorial presentations and active discussions. These range from use of options to generate monthly income to “hedging” for protection of your stocks and portfolios. Participant depth ranges from initial learning to active traders. You are welcome to join our quest to combat the unprecedented market changes and uncertainties. REMEMBER: No one is as concerned about your wealth as you (or your spouse) is. We will work closely with the new Stocks and ETFs SIG. This includes rotating the meeting start time and sharing facilities.

Independent traders and successful investors will present their methods and strategies of trading. Charting tools and tactics will help traders and investors profit from investments and trades. Investor psychology, portfolio strategies and handling potential losses are some of the subjects covered. Opportunities to listen and learn, take an active role in the group or make a presentation are available. We share meeting time and location with the Options & Analysis SIG.
