Exchange-traded funds (ETFs) are often touted as tax-efficient, transparent and efficient investment vehicles. But that is not always the case. In this presentation, Michael Rawson of Morningstar will discuss how to analyze ETFs and why you should not just rely on the name of the ETF before investing. ETFs that offer exposure to different asset classes can have different tax treatments and may not give you the precise exposure you expect. He will conclude with a discussion of ETF investment ideas for the current environment.

Speaker’s Biography: Michael Rawson, CFA, is an ETF analyst with Morningstar. Prior to joining Morningstar, he worked as an equity analyst for PNC Bank. He earned a master’s degree in finance from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. While living in Madison, he enjoyed biking, fishing and going for nature walks. He currently lives in Chicago, where he enjoys being stuck in traffic, paying tolls and high gas prices.
