The AAII Baltimore Chapter presents...
"Saving for College with Maryland’s 529 Plans"
Discussed by:
Joan Marshall
Executive Director, College Savings Plans of Maryland
This presentation will provide specific information about the two 529 plans offered by the College Savings Plans of Maryland: the Prepaid College Trust and the College Investment Plan. Each plan will be reviewed in detail in terms of who is eligible, the features and benefits of each plan, how the plans compare with each other as well as an explanation of the Maryland and federal tax benefits. Information that is unique to each plan will also be reviewed. For the Prepaid College Trust, this will include current and projected college tuition in Maryland; features of the Maryland legislative guarantee; and the actuarial soundness of the plan. For the College Investment Plan, which was recently awarded a gold rating by Morningstar for 2012, there will be a review of changes to the investment options that begin on January 2, 2013.
