The AAII Twin Cities Chapter presents...

"How to Invest for the Thorniest Problems of the 21st Century"

    Discussed by:

    Tom Blees
President, The Science Council for Global Initiatives

The International Energy Agency, a preeminent scientific organization, has warned of dire consequences if global temperatures rise more than two degrees Celsius. Meeting that goal will require that two-thirds of the world’s known reserves of coal, gas and oil stay in the ground. In an interview with Thomas Friedman, President Obama confirmed the two-degrees goal and said “We’re not going to be able to burn it all.” What would a $28 trillion write-off of reserves do to the value of your Chevron and Exxon-Mobil stocks, to energy valuations and the economy? You say the political will isn’t there. What if market forces of energy from fast-breeder reactors made fossil fuels non-competitive?

Attend This Meeting and Learn...
The critical role of energy in addressing the most challenging issues of our era
The potential and limitations of various energy systems, and likely scenarios of how they might play out politically and in the market
The differences between and potential of various types of nuclear reactors
