Account Xpress is a personal financial management software that is designed to be both functional and easy to use. A comprehensive help guide can assist you in getting started. Users who simply want to track their income and expenses can do so, but the program also provides detailed analysis of monthly finances for those seeking more a more thorough breakdown.
The first step when using Account Xpress is to enter your account information. Assets and liabilities such as checking, savings and credit card accounts are commonly used. The next section is budgets. It incorporates your budgeted and actual income and expenses. This section is broken down into categories and sub-categories. Furthermore, you are able to enter recurring transactions. The software will automatically deduct expenses from the account you specify, keeping your finances accurate and timely.
In addition to keeping track of income and expenses, the program offers an array of charts, graphs and reports for users seeking additional analysis. Each budget category provides tabs with a list of transactions, budgeted versus actual spending, income/expense charts, and monthly comparison graphs. Charts, graphs and comparison summaries are also presented for the entire income and expenses section.
To further streamline the process, Account Xpress does a great job of keeping tracking of your recurring income and expenses. Salary, rent or mortgage, and bills can all be entered and assigned to an account. On the appropriate date, the program will automatically add or deduct the correct amount. The program also keeps track of your different payees and provides transaction schedules and templates.
One of the unique features of Account Xpress is that it allows users to customize a time frame on which to focus. After selecting a time frame, the actual and budgeted income and expenses will be shown for that particular period, effectively allowing users to access how well they stayed on track each month, quarter or year (or any other customized period).
Account Xpress also provides users with a simple way to reconcile accounts. Each transaction in the program is labeled as either cleared or non-cleared, with non-cleared being the default unless the transaction is non-reconcilable. During the account reconciliation process, each transaction is matched with transactions on a printed statement from your financial institution. Account Xpress maintains two balances for each account, a real balance and a clear balance. The real balance is updated using all the transactions in a given account, whereas the clear balance only uses those transactions that have been cleared. At the end of the reconciliation process, the balance on your printed financial statement should match your clear balance in Account Xpress. If your account does not match, most likely an incorrect transaction was entered, and Account Xpress provides tips in the help guide to assist you in finding the error.
Account Xpress can export files in Quicken Interchange format (.qif) and import from Quicken Interchange (.qif) and Open Financial Exchange formats (.ofx and .qfx).
Overall, Account Xpress will benefit anyone serious about organizing their finances. The program is not free, but it is reasonably priced and comes with a 30-day trial.
