Budget Calendar

by CI Staff

Budget Calendar is an easy-to-use program designed to help you keep track of your budget using a simple and intuitive calendar design. The program allows you to quickly detail your budget and see your financial shortfalls on a daily and monthly basis.

Several areas of the program’s main page are worth highlighting. The month selector and quick stats area shows your initial and closing monthly balances. The forecast graph represents your average daily balance for future months if you remain on track with your budget. From the main page, the program allows you to toggle between a brief summary and a full summary. The brief summary shows payments that consume at least 5% of your total income. In order to see all payments, click on “full summary.” The “+/–” column shows the difference between planned and actual expenditures. The filter feature allows users to search for expenses using keywords. Furthermore, notes can be added to each expense.

Each calendar day has its own cell. Within a cell, each transaction listing includes an optional image, a description (which begins with “…” if there is a note included), and the amount of the transaction. The bottom bar presents the day’s ending balance. A pink bar indicates the maximum balance for the month and a blue bar indicates the minimum balance. Hovering your mouse over the bar provides daily income and expenses.

There are two ways to add a payment. You can right-click on a cell heading and click on “Add a new payment,” or you can right-click in the List of All Payments window and click on “Add a new payment.” You can provide numerous pieces of information for each transaction, including starting and ending date, grace period, frequency of payment and category. You can also create a payment based on an existing transaction by right-clicking a saved transaction and selecting “Duplicate payment.”
