The January/February 2004 issue of CI compared the current group of on-line discount brokers. But members contact us year-round for this information, so we’ve set up a special area of our Web site that brings together all the information we have on the discount brokers.

Whenever you want to see how your broker stacks up against the competition or check out a name that’s been referred to you, visit the Discount Broker Survey page of AAII.com by clicking on Special Reports from the home page of AAII.com. Not only will you find on-line versions of AAII Journal and Computerized Investing articles on discount brokers, but you’ll be able to access additional lists and links that make using the information quick and easy.

What will you see at the on-line Discount Broker Survey page? A box of links provides handy access to broker data broken down in usable pieces. Whereas the AAII Journal article lists all brokers together alphabetically, on-line you can choose to view all brokers or only those that offer on-line trading. Clicking on a broker’s name from one of these lists takes you to the broker snapshot—a full page of details on that broker’s fees and services, along with comparison commissions. Clicking on the Web addresses in these lists takes you directly to the broker’s home page.

A link to the article presented in the January/February 2004 issue of Computerized Investing is also available. The on-line version presents the article and comparison grid in manageable sections for easy reading and comparison.

Both on-line articles include links to a PDF version of the complete article that can be printed from your computer. You’ll also see a link to our broker issues message board where you can read and post opinions about the articles or any of the brokers included in the articles.

Another reason to visit the Discount Broker Survey on-line is to check out our member questionnaire on brokers. For the past five years, members have been answering our questions about their experiences with discount brokers.

The results give you invaluable inside information such as which brokers are reliable and provide speedy execution of trades. A running tally of weekly results for each question can be viewed. Using an annual tally, we provide a list of the top 10 vote getters and a chart of the top six brokers overall.
