I bought one to use to transfer photos to my laptop via our home wifi. However, the first thing it did was to demand Internet access! I DO NOT TRUST unknown devices that insist on my giving them Internet access for unknown reasons! I have no reason to want to provide that and I do not trust it. I immediately removed the software and the card is sitting here unused.

It requires Internet access to update the firmware, which I believe it discussed in the user's guide. That is why it is a good idea to have a anti-virus/firewall software installed on your PC.
