iCash is a personal finance manager that runs on both Windows and Macintosh systems. The program is very user-friendly and its website provides a detailed help guide. iCash keeps track of all your income, expenses and bank accounts, enabling you to monitor how money comes and goes.
The easiest way to set up an account is to import a bank statement directly into the program. iCash supports QIF and OFX formats. Simply download your statement from a bank or credit card account, and import it into iCash by selecting Import at the top of the program. The transactions panel will show all the transactions from the statement that were imported. Separately, you are able to create accounts and enter transactions manually. Select which account you wish to edit from the drop-down menu at the top left of the page and click on the “+” button at the top right.
The six most widely used areas of the program are listed as tabs on the main page of iCash. In the reports tab, users are able to generate useful reports such as the profit and loss summary and the payment summary. The profit and loss summary breaks down your income and expenses for each month and shows the amount you have left over, whereas the payment summary is a breakdown of your expenses.
Charts provided by iCash provide a graphical representation of either your income or expenses broken down by type. For instance, expenses can be broken down into auto, home, etc., which can then be further broken down into auto fuel, home repair, and so forth. Expenses for the user-specified category will be shown as either a line, bar or pie chart.
The search capability of iCash is surprisingly strong. In the queries tab, users can specify a date range and category when searching by keyword. This makes looking for a particular expense or income amount incredibly simple. In addition, iCash offers a feature called Favorites, which saves frequent, recurring transactions. When entering Favorite transactions in the future, simply click on saved transactions and iCash will enter the data automatically. iCash also provides a strong budgeting tool designed to help users stay on track.
