The recent market volatility has many investors checking their investment portfolios often. Although most individual investors are not traders, it is still prudent to keep an eye on the fluctuations of your personal stock holdings. LiteStock is a simple program designed solely to help you keep track of stocks of interest by listing price, percent change and volume.
LiteStock is a small program, and it should download and install in minutes. After the program is up and running, you need to enter the stocks that you want to follow. To enter stocks, click on the Stocks button at the bottom right of the window. A new window will pop up, prompting you to enter a symbol. You may also choose to write a note that will be displayed next to the stock. For each stock that you enter into the program, the main display page will present its price, percent change, volume, and any notes that you have entered. In addition, at the very bottom of the screen, a ticker display will also show each stock with its current price, volume and percent change. Even if the main program is closed, the ticker tape will continue to scroll at the bottom of the page.
There are several options that can be personalized. For the most part, the options allow you to set up your personal preferences for the program, such as what data fields to display. You can also choose how often the price data is refreshed and the source of the quote. By default, prices are refreshed every five seconds from Yahoo! Finance.
The free version of LiteStock only allows users to input five stocks. In order to access unlimited quotes, you must buy the full version, which is priced at $19.95.
