For Windows on a Mac OS X system, you really need to add Virtual Box, available from Oracle, free of charge. I run Windows XP, others run Windows 7/8 with no issues.

www.virtualbox.org is the home site.

Another comment: most of the information here is good but obvious. I've found, as an IT professional, that when PCs are commodity products, the consumer issues become paramount: quality (not breaking, not needing service constantly), service (responsiveness, getting it right the first time, etc.), and efficiency (making it easy to configure and buy, preferably web-based, low bullshit to value ratio, shipping quickly at reasonable cost, and limiting or informing up front about backordering). It would be great to know how various companies rate on this stuff. Consumer Reports has some of it but they are limited.

This article seems to be truncated at the "resolution" section. Is there more?

Mine is truncated, too - right at the point I was most interested! (I'm getting ready to buy a monitor)

Another appealing and viable option is to opt for a hybrid solution. The hybrid solution uses a very capable laptop as the main computer and then adds a 21-23 monitor attached via an HDMI cable along with a full sized wired/wireless keyboard when performing PC tasks in stationary/fixed environment.

The advantage is just one computer that provides essential portability while also adding funtionality and efficiency when operating in a more traditional manner.

FYI...I am logged in to AAII and the article is truncated @ "Resolution"

The missing text at the end of the article has been added. Apologies.

For me physical security causes me to favor laptops: When I leave the house, my computers go in the safe. I don't see much mention of this "feature".

If buying from Dell, buy from their small business department. I found the products to be cheaper and not pre-loaded with much of software I do not want or need.

For Windows 7, would you want the Home Premium or Professional version? Thank you.
