SlimCleaner 4.0

by CI Staff

SlimCleaner 4.0 is a free download that cleans, optimizes, repairs and updates your PC based on the latest threats and issues. The program not only optimizes your system, but also scans your installed software, Web browsers and more. Although many programs have been doing this for years, SlimCleaner differs in that it uses cloud-based reporting to integrate user feedback into its cleaning and optimizing tools.

SlimCleaner gives you access to a community of users who provide real-time feedback about apps and items on their own computer to help your PC’s performance.

Along the left-hand side are seven options: Cleaner, Optimize, Software, Browsers, Disk Tools, Windows Tools and Hijack log. Under the Cleaner tab, SlimCleaner will go through your system, your history and your computer’s utilities to see what needs to be analyzed. It will give you a complete breakdown of what applications you have on your computer. If you wanted to know what type of programs you have for productivity, multimedia or utilities, all of that is accessible as well. SlimCleaner can also optimize your Web browsers. Click AutoClean and the program will automatically clean through your browser’s history, cache, cookies, logs, sessions, etc.

The Optimize tab is very helpful as well. Along the top of the page, you can see a dial that tells you how much of your central processing unit (CPU) you are using on your PC as well as your random-access memory (RAM) usage. Under the Optimize tab, each startup program is listed. There is a color-coded rating system used, so each program is rated using colors red through green: unwanted (red), optional (orange, yellow or light green) or good (bright green).

The Software tab is similar to the Optimize tab in that you can view in list format every software application that is downloaded onto your computer. Each program is rated using the same color codes as before, and you have the option to uninstall any program.

The Browsers tab shows you each browser you have downloaded onto your computer. SlimCleaner shows you what your current home page is on each browser and you can edit that as well. If you want to edit any add-ons or toolbars that have been downloaded with the browser, you have that option. Everything is rated using the same color-coded system.

Disk Tools allows the user to analyze a disk summary of his local disk. When you choose to analyze a disk, the program will automatically search through the computer to scan and analyze each file. The disk analyzer provides a breakdown of each drive and file, showing the total file size, how many folders each drive contains and the date files were last modified. If you wish to delete data from your computer, you can use the Disk Wiper or the Disk Shredder. This makes the information you delete unrecoverable. There is also an option for disk defrag, where you can see your total disk size, used disk space and free disk space. SlimCleaner will let you know if your disk is fully optimized and whether you should defrag or not.

The program runs very quickly and is simple to navigate through. There is a Help option in case extra information is needed. SlimCleaner is a very effective way to manage your PC and everything on it.

Warning: Lots of worthless stuff attached. Look elsewhere.

After downloading, it ran a scan on my system then offered to fix the "first 100 errors for free". I'm not sure what it found or what it fixed. It seems to have replaced my google search box on the toolbar with a yahoo one.

I wish AAII would do a better job of warning about all the junk attached to these things. I think it added more problems than it fixed.

I'm sorry to hear that! If you open Slim Cleaner, under "Browser" you can edit your toolbars, so hopefully it will allow you remove and uninstall the yahoo toolbar.
When I downloaded it I didn't have any sort of junk attached.

I have a similar experience to what Mr. Parks has written. I am very disappointed with your recommendation. It has rearranged my google browser and so many different things keep coming and I do not know how to fix it.

Dear CI Staff,

Like the above comments, I wish you would vet your programs better.

I downloaded SlimCleaner 4.0 and it messed up Google Chrome something awful and it keeps asking me for additional downloads that DON'T WANT !!!
@#%$^^@@!!
I uninstalled it to no avail.

Any suggestions?
