Is it possible using Stock Investor Pro to determine the beginning retained earnings needed for factor B in the formula or does one need to see the cash flow statement to find that number?

Is the Z-Score a field in Stock Investor Pro?

How does the Z-Score compare to the Piotroski score?

Some accuracy data please. What per centage of companies with declining scores reaching the danger zone actually go bankrupt? What per centage of bankruptcies over a 5 or 10 year period was predicted by a decling Z-score? Is the inverse true? That is, does a rising Z-score signal a turnaround? And is either of these cases accurate enough in itself to be investable or merely cautionary? Are there similar tests? How well does this one compare?

The Z-Score is not currently in Stock Investor Pro. Since retained earnings is not in the program, you are not able to create a custom field. We are looking to add data fields in the near future, including retained earnings, at which point we will probably add a Z-Score variable. There is no research relating a low Piotroski F-Score to a low Z-Score. Here is a link to a paper Altman wrote about the predictive power of the Z-Score: http://people.stern.nyu.edu/ealtman/PredFnclDistr.pdf Wayne A. Thorp, CFA, editor, Computerized Investing

Wayne, you mentioned that you are planning to add some data fields to SIP. I am interested in the Z-Score.
Any dates in mind?
Thanks,
