Stockrover.com provides many tools to analyze, track and research securities, including an easy-to-use stock screener; tables that are easily sorted, filtered or grouped; charting capabilities; detailed company information; a wide range of fundamental and technical data; and a portfolio tracker. For these reasons, Stockrover.com is the CI Editor's Choice. The wide range of information available makes it hard to compete with, along with the extensive customization opportunities the site provides for its users—even those using the site for free. You must first set up a free account (the site also offers a paid premium subscription). From there, you can open the platform on your browser.

To bring up data on a specific stock, click “research stocks” under the Task Wizard on the left-hand side of the page, enter a ticker symbol and the company will be added to your list in the Research Tickers window. The window on the right, titled Insights, shows you summary information and presents basic figures regarding performance, valuation, profitability and growth. It compares the company’s figures to the industry average and the S&P 500 index.

The Detail tab in the Insights window presents financial statement data in summary form for 10 quarters or years, when available (drag the left edge of the window to see all columns of data). There are also key ratios at the end of each statement. The full statement data links take you to historical data on Morningstar.com. A profitability list reports gross margin, operating margin, EBITDA margin, net margin, return on assets, return on equity and sustainable growth rate figures. A growth list gives one-year percentage changes and three-year and five-year averages for revenue, operating income, earnings per share, and dividends.

A premium subscription is needed to export financial statement information or key ratios to Excel.
