Good job! Probably most of us seek safe, high-dividend stocks in this climate. Would love to see this refined and be intergrated with the basic lineup of stock screens.

I agree with Steve. I like the adaptation to the dividend screen shown here, and would greatly appreciate it being added to the basic lineup of monthly screens.

There are lots of dividend growth strategies, most of which are intended to maximize future growth of dividend payouts, while maintaining low risk, "safe", reliable payors. The trick in all of these strategies is knowing how to pick the right companies. There are several reasons why bsd approach will not attain the above goal. First, it would have to widen its universe to "foreign" companies, such as Novartis, Nestle, Total, etc. Second, guesswork about prices in the future (relative strength) is known to have little relationship to dividend payout growth. Third, some of the great dividend growers of the last two decades have bsd scores between 40 and 60, too low to include them. (examples are Proctor & Gamble, MacDonald's, Coke) Lastly, is there any data about payout growth for companies with high bsd's? Over appropriate time frames? Where is the test data for this approach? See "Dividend Growth Investing" for another approach.

Anyone have a suggestion of a high-dividend mutual fund or ETF that comes close to this strategy? I'm a new member and would really appreciate your thoughts. Thanks.

I attempted to add the BSD Custom Fields to SI Pro but was unable to add the BSD CFO-Grth 3 yr Score, and, consequently, was unable to add the BSD Composite Score.

Can anyone shed any light here? I made several attempts from scratch assuming/hoping that I had made some sort of entry error.

Thanks in advance.

Make sure there are no extra spaces at the beginning or the end of the formula if you are copying it from the text file. Also, when saving the fields, make sure you use the exact same names as are used in the text file. If you continue to have problems, please email the formula you are using from the Custom Field Editor to techsupport@aaii.com. Wayne A. Thorp, CFA, editor, Computerized Investing.

Robert from Illinois gives the most cogent critique of this approach.

Please add the Carlson Advanced screen to SI PRO.

Robert from Illinois analysis is on point, albeit brief. I want to point out that Mr. Carlson's strategy only works if you write a book that sells well.

It is not good to repeat this old article from 2011 without updating the data.

It would be interesting to see some screening approaches and results for bank stocks, especially using Stock Investor Pro.
