My login name and password don't work when I try to log in.
- Check that your are entering either your AAII member number (all 10 digits) as your login name and password OR your customized login information.
ALSO...
- Is your Password field automatically populated with dots or asterisks after you have entered in your Login Name but BEFORE you get a chance to enter in your password?

Figure shows previously stored password automatically populated after entering Login Name but BEFORE manually adding the password:
|
If this happens, delete the dots or asterisks in the Password field first, then retype your password. Click the Login button.
- Check to see that your membership has not expired. If it has, you can renew through our on-line store.
If you've forgotten your password, click here to have your Login Name and Password Hint E-mailed to you.
*Please note that this is only your password HINT. For your security, we do not have access to the actual password once it has been changed from your membership number.

After attempting to log in, I get looped back to the login page again.

I keep getting the "Page Cannot Be Found" error message when I attempt to log in.
- Open a new Internet Explorer browser window.
- Go to the menu options at the very top (File, Edit, View, etc.) and click on the following: Tools > Internet Options
- You will notice numerous of tabs at the top of the Internet Options box (General, Security, Privacy, etc). The default is the first tab - General. This is the area we need to work with.
- In the middle of that General area, you will notice a section called Temporary Internet Files. First, click on the Delete Files button. Another pop-up box will appear asking you if you'd like to delete these files. You will also notice a checkbox to delete all offline content. Click inside that checkbox so that it is selected, and then click the OK button. You might get the hourglass icon for a bit while your computer is deleting those files (these are just temporary files that get dumped into that Temporary Internet Files folder whenever you visit Web sites - deleting these files has absolutely no affect on your system).
- Repeat step 4, only this time do NOT select the checkbox to delete all offline files - just leave that blank. Click the OK button.
- Just below the Temporary Internet Files section, there is a section called History. The number next to "Days to keep pages in history" may be set to 20 by default. Whatever the number is, we recommend keeping it at zero to keep the history cache at a minimum. After changing that number to 0 (zero), go ahead and click on the Clear History button to clear out any previously visited Web addresses. Leaving old addresses in the cache can sometimes cause discrepancies when visiting certain Web pages.
- Now click the OK button at the bottom of the Internet Options box to close it. In the Address bar of your Internet Explorer Web browser, manually type in: www.aaii.com. Please do not use any bookmark links or links from any E-mail when going through this step. Also, if the auto-complete feature brings up a list of similar Web addresses while you're typing, just ignore it and keep typing through. Do NOT choose from the auto-complete list if it comes up.
- Once you get to the homepage of the Web site, hit the F5 key on your keyboard to refresh/reload the page (the F5 key is just a shortcut. You can also click on the refresh icon in your browser just above the Address bar). After the page has reloaded, click on the Login link. You should get to the login page successfully at this point.
IMPORTANT: If after going through these instructions, you are able to get to the main login screen again, please do NOT use the Save My Password feature until you can verify that the login information will get you in successfully. Also, if you are prompted by your computer with a message similar to "Do you want Windows to remember this password?", please click NO.
Another good thing to remember is that if you are using bookmark links to get into the site remember to only bookmark a login protected site BEFORE logging in and not after. Once you log into a site, a unique session ID number is created. If you bookmark a site while in a unique session, it can cause problems with the bookmark link down the road. For sites that require you to log in, bookmark them in a logged-off state.
NOTE: If you happen to have a firewall program installed and running on your computer, this will also block you from logging in. You may need to disable the firewall while logging in and then re-enable it after you've completed your login.

Cookies are enabled and I am using the correct login information. I still cannot log in! What should I do now?
More than likely, the login information stored in your cookie file is different from what you used to log in. Thus, all AAII.com cookies will need to be deleted. Once your cookie file is deleted from your hard drive, your browser will then be free of any conflicting login names and passwords.

I have a firewall program on my computer. Will this cause problems logging in?
Before going any further you will need to either disable your firewall program first OR configure your firewall program to allow AAII.com cookies which are required for logging in. (Check the user manual of your particular firewall program to learn more about configuring trusted sites.)
|
Is it safe for me to bookmark AAII.com?
If you are using bookmark links to get into the site remember to only bookmark a login-protected site (such as AAII.com) BEFORE logging in and not after. Once you log into a site, a unique session ID number is created. If you bookmark a site while in a unique session, this will cause problems with the bookmark link down the road. For sites that require logging in, bookmark them in a logged-off state.
If you find that you are having difficulty logging in and you know that you use a bookmark link to access the AAII.com Web site:
- Log out of AAII.com if you are currently logged in (or go to next step if you are not currently logged in). A LOG OUT link is found at the very top of each page.
- Delete your current AAII.com bookmark link.
- Bring up a new browser window and go to www.aaii.com. Make sure you are at the homepage and that you are NOT currently logged in.
- Create a new bookmark link before logging in.
|
I have logged into AAII.com successfully, but when I click on My Portfolio to edit my portfolio I am asked to log in again. Why do I need to log in twice?
The My Portfolio section of AAII.com is powered and maintained externally by MarketWatch, and all of your portfolio data is stored in their database. When you are prompted to log in at the My Portfolio section, you are actually being prompted to log in by MarketWatch, not AAII.
