Web Sites for Exchange-Traded Funds
You can get up-to-date market and trading information on exchange-traded funds from several comprehensive financial Web sites, as well as the Web sites of the ETF marketers and sponsors. Prospectuses and other fund reports can be downloaded from the individual ETF sponsor Web sites. These sites also typically contain useful information on how well the fund has historically tracked its underlying index.
American Stock Exchange (Amex)
Comprehensive information on all exchange-traded funds that are listed on the Amex, which is the vast majority of them. Click ETFs and you can get updated share prices and other trading information. The individual fund tear sheets contain a variety of useful data, including a fund description, performance information (based on market price and net asset value), holdings, historical premiums and discounts, and a distribution history. The ETF screener allows you to specify criteria such as size of the ETF, objective, expense ratio, and individual security holdings.
ETFConnect offers some of the most comprehensive information on almost all of the existing exchange-traded funds, including basic fund facts, performance data, historical premiums and discounts. Reports display performance figures, top holdings, diversification percentages, and research data, and include a link to SEC filings. Includes educational information on ETFs, and provides links to industry Web sites, fund providers and newsletters.
Morningstar Quicktake Reports on individual tradable funds follow the standard mutual fund format, which provides style data, return and risk information, Morningstar ratings, sector breakdowns and a listing of top holdings. The site also shows a chart listing the premium or discount of the share price to the underlying net asset value of the funds shares.
Similar to the Amex Web site, this site is a comprehensive resource for those ETFs listed on NASDAQ. Individual fund information includes a fund description, performance information (based on market price and net asset value), holdings, historical premiums and discounts, and a distribution history.
Comprehensive information on exchange-traded funds includes pricing, performance, holdings and risk, as well as comparisons with various indexes. Tools include an ETF screener and ETF Compare.
The ETF Center provides up-to-date and complete market information on all exchange-traded funds. Data on individual ETFs includes pricing, performance, holdings and risk measures.
