"Looking at Markets"

    Discussed by:

    Fred Richards
Founder and CEO, Adrich Corporation; Editor, Strategic Investing

Do the headlines really tell the story? Are you hoping for an improvement in the economy or is the reality something different? Do you know how to sift the wheat from the chaff? Fred Richards will discuss in detail how he uses the CAN SLIM investing system to produce results in up and down markets. This presentation will cover CAN SLIM and the “Power of 3” concept along with “Pocket Pivots” for improving investment results. Richards will also share ideas on how to identify trends the markets might experience in the future. Richards’ motto is “KISS +SF!” Or, “Keep It Safe and Simple and Stay Focused!”

October 13, 2012, 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. (after the chapter meeting). Contact: Dr. Joyce Morningstar, Same date and location as chapter meeting. Cost: None.
Due to greater uncertainties, financial planning after retirement becomes more challenging. The focus of this SIG is financial planning, with an emphasis on investing for retirement income. Our group welcomes different viewpoints and participation from both experienced and new investors. October’s topic is “Retirement Income Planning: What Works and What Doesn’t.”

Health Care Reform and Medicare SIG, Saturday, October 13, 2012, 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. (after the chapter meeting in October, December, February and April). Contact: Allan Zee, Same date and location as chapter meeting. Cost: None.
The Affordable Care Act, has been upheld by the Supreme Court. We’ll discuss many aspects of the law and how it’s being implemented, including the most controversial part, which is the requirement that all citizens and legal residents, with some exceptions, purchase health insurance or pay a penalty/tax, beginning in 2014. How will the penalty/tax rules be enforced? When the anticipated 30+ million people are added to the healthcare system starting in 2014 how will that affect availability of medical professionals? What will the effects be on small and large employer group health insurance? What effect will the healthcare law have on Medicare beneficiaries? The law is being implemented now, but the November election could have a profound effect on the future of the Affordable Care Act.
Options & Analysis SIG, Saturday, October 13, 2012, 1:16 to 3:30 p.m. (after the chapter meeting). Contact: Rick Climie, Same date and location as chapter meeting. Cost: None.

You are welcome to join our quest to combat the unprecedented market changes and uncertainties. REMEMBER: No one is as concerned about your wealth as you (or your spouse) is. We will work closely with the new Stocks and ETFs SIG. This includes rotating the meeting start time and sharing facilities.
