The AAII Los Angeles Chapter presents...

Where Are We Now? Where Are We Going?

    Discussed by:

    Frank Barbera
Co-Manager, Sierra Core Retirement Fund; Executive Vice President, Sierra Investment Management

Frank Barbera, a long-time friend of the Los Angeles chapter of AAII, always has some very insightful comments about the economy and the markets. This presentation will update attendees on current economic trends both in the U.S. and globally. Is the economic recovery sustainable? Is the stock market set for a correction? Are bonds set for a fall? Frank will address the outlook for capital markets including equities, bonds, currencies and commodities. And he will definitely have a few words about gold.

Beyond 2013

    Discussed by:
    Don Gimpel, Ph.D
Board Member, AAII Los Angeles Chapter

Wouldn?t you like to know what the world might look like in 20 years? If you knew that, you could shape your investment portfolio to take advantage of which investments will be the future winners and which will be the losers. We really can?t do that with any precision, but we can write scenarios that describe possible futures, and then we can mine them for investment opportunities. It?s not well-known that there really is an agency of the U.S. government (and 14 others) that has that responsibility and reports on the forces and trends that shape the likely scenarios. We can mine their charts and graphs to figure out which sectors are likely to experience growth, which countries will become more powerful and which will weaken and where we can get the most investment bang for our investment buck.

Which of the four likely world scenarios to the year 2030 will be favorable for the U.S.
