    Discussed by:

    Robert E. Crosby, CFA
Senior Portfolio Manager, Munder Capital Management

Real estate investment trusts (REITs) are an attractive investment that can provide a combination of dividend income and capital appreciation over time. In addition, they can provide diversification to other asset classes, increasing risk-adjusted returns in nearly any portfolio. They are an attractive way for individual investors to experience the benefits of investing in real estate with the liquidity of ordinary stocks.
