We get a lot of emails asking questions about what we do. Here are answers to some of the questions we get on a regular basis.
What is Computerized Investing?
Computerized Investing is an online resource for individual investors looking to harness the power of technology to become more effective managers of their own investments. The site is updated throughout the month with articles covering software, websites and apps related to the topics of portfolio management and tracking; fundamental stock screening and analysts; mutual fund screening and analysis; technical analysis and charting; and more. We also review tech gadgets, provide interactive analysis tools and offer regular investment and market commentary via the CI Blog.
When is Computerized Investing published?
Your CI subscription includes a monthly e-newsletter that is delivered via email and ComputerizedInvesting.com on the third Saturday of each month.
To make sure you are subscribed to the monthly CI e-newsletter, follow these steps:
- Log into ComputerizedInvesting.com by clicking on the login button on the right-hand corner of the webpage.
- Go to the MY ACCOUNT page.
- Scroll down to MY AAII EMAILS and click on the UPDATE MY AAII EMAILS button.
- Click on the SUBSCRIBE radio button next to CI EMAIL.
Also, make sure you have added email@example.com to your email’s “safe sender” list.
How do I get in touch with Computerized Investing?
Our “About” page lists email addresses for CI’s editorial staff and up above is a general contact form. Should you spot a bug or other problem with the site, you can report it using our contact form or by emailing us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
We do read every message you send us and make every attempt to respond to every single one. If we are not able to respond, please know that we are listening and will do everything in our power to address any comments or concerns you may have.

Do companies pay you to review their products? Do you keep the gadgets you review?
Computerized Investing has a strict policy against advertorial. There are times that companies do not require us to return the products we review or offer free or reduced-rate software or website access, but that does not mean our editorial is for sale. It is for this reason that we currently do not accept advertising on our site.
How do I log in?
To log into ComputerizedInvesting.com click on the login button on the right hand corner of the webpage.
How do I customize my login information?
After you have logged into the Computerized Investing website you can customize your login by following these steps:
- Go to the MY ACCOUNT page.
- Scroll down to the bottom of the page until you see a box entitled CONTACT INFORMATION
- Look for the Customize Your Login section and follow the link.
How do I reset my login information?
In order to reset your login information you need to contact Member Services at (800) 428-2244.
What is a password hint?
For your security, we do not have access to your actual password once it has been entered into our system. We ask you to create a password hint in case you forget your password when customizing your login. If you forget your customized password and the password hint doesn’t help you, you can reset your login information by contacting Member Services at (800) 428-2244.
Do I need to enable cookies on my browser?
Please take a moment to ensure that your browser is set correctly. Please consult your browser’s documentations on doing so.
Why do I only get GOOGLE data no matter which ticker symbol I enter in the “Enter ticker” area of the homepage?
You need to allow the quote service on your browser.
In your Firefox browser:
- Click on Tools, Options
- Click on the Privacy Tab
- Click on the drop down-menu for "Firefox will:" and select "Use custom settings for history"
- Click Exceptions, and type "app.quotemedia.com" in the Address of web site field.
- Click Allow
- Click close, then click OK
How do I comment?
Beneath any given post or article you have the ability to post comments. However, you must be a registered guest or subscriber of Computerized Investing and be logged into your account in order to comment.
Why do I have to register to comment?
Computerized Investing is a subscription-based service and, as such, we only allow registered subscribers to post comments. This also allows us to cut down on the noise of spammers or trolls.
Why was my comment removed?
There are many reasons this might happen, but here are some of the most common reasons we delete comments. Spamming of any type, be it human or robot-generated, is always deleted. If you're trying to sell something in comments, you’re a spammer and we will remove your comments. Trolling is also unacceptable, so we delete any comments we feel are disruptive, off-topic or annoying. We also delete comments that are racist, sexist, obscene, or offensive in any way. Personal attacks are also not allowed, whether directed at CI staff or another commenter. Finally, we reserve the right to delete any comment at our discretion. If we see a history of trolling or other offensive behavior, we’ll just ban your account. That means that your username, email, and potentially IP address will be barred from our system, and you'll no longer be able to comment on Computerized Investing.
Isn’t deleting comments censorship?
No. Computerized Investing—along with its parent, AAII—allows comments in order to further discussion of the products we cover and articles we write and to engage fellow readers. Computerized Investing’s commenting sections are NOT public forums where you can say whatever you please. Computerized Investing is an educational site and a private business. The editorial staff does not delete comments without good reason, but deletions are always at the discretion of the editors. We try to keep the Computerized Investing comment sections an enjoyable and engaging experience for all of its readers.
I’ve found a comment in a post that I find offensive, what can I do?
Let us know, and please don’t engage the offender in the comments. It only makes things worse. You can report an offensive comment by emailing us at email@example.com. Please provide the URL of the article or post and the contents of the comment(s) you found offensive and our editors will review the comment to see if it should be removed.
