Biography:
Jason Voss, CFA, is CEO of Active Investment Management, LLC, where he helps small- to medium-sized active investment management firms create alpha for the benefit of their clients. Previously, he was content director at CFA Institute, where he created content for the organization’s 150,000+ global charterholders. Prior to that, Voss was a portfolio manager at Davis Selected Advisers, L.P., where he co-managed the Davis Appreciation and Income fund. Over the course of his investment career as co-portfolio manager of the fund, it bested the S&P 500 index by 49.1% with two-thirds of the volatility. The fund was one of Morningstar's first 10 mutual funds to receive its “A” grade for ethical stewardship of investor monies. The Davis Appreciation and Income fund was regularly ranked in the top decile of its investment category and further it earned a Lipper #1 ranking. It was named a Lipper Leader, and was a perennial Morningstar Analyst Pick.
Voss has authored over 1,000 investment articles and given hundreds of press interviews to The Wall Street Journal, Barron’s, Marketplace Morning Report, BBC’s Today Programme, Business Week, Bloomberg, Reuters, Money, the Wall Street Transcript, Smart Money and more. Additionally, his research has been published in the Journal of Private Equity and the Journal of Behavioral Finance. He holds a bachelor of arts in economics and an MBA with an emphasis in finance and accounting from the University of Colorado. Additionally, he is a holder of the right to use the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation.
