Biography:

Stanley Rodak retired from the federal government in 1995, after an exciting and challenging career as a physicist/electronics engineer in which he helped exploit state-of-the-art technologies to develop or improve sensitive deployable government equipment for use in a variety of applications such as submarine warfare, remote surveillance and robotics.  During his career, he often traveled around the United States, Europe and Japan to collaborate on new ideas and technical breakthroughs with universities, U.S. and foreign governments, and industrial R&D facilities.

After retiring, Rodak moved from Washington, D. C., to Florida and now resides in Sarasota. His retirement activities have included recreational fishing in the Gulf of Mexico; giving occasional talks before the Sarasota Physics Club (astrophysics and quantum mechanics concepts);  doing realistic paintings of still life set-ups;  vacations to our Western national parks and Alaska; enjoying a number of ship cruises to the Caribbean and some cross-Atlantic trips to Europe; visits to faraway places, like seeing up close the Terracotta Warrior statues in Xi'an,China;  putting together an Excel computer program for “what if” fun studies; reading books on historic events such as Francisco Orellana’s legendary 16th century voyage down the Amazon River; volunteering for organizations such as Mote Marine Laboratory & Aquarium; and taking a mix of classes on non-technical topics such as stock investing and digital photography.

Rodak earned a B.S. in physics from the University of Florida in 1962 and an M.S. in physics from the University of Connecticut in 1965. He later earned a professional degree in electrical engineering from George Washington University, pursuing graduate studies in computer science, electro-physics and digital communications.
