Biography:

William Francavilla is a former senior vice president and was the corporate director of wealth management for Legg Mason, Baltimore, Maryland. He has over 30 years of experience in the financial industry, serving as branch manager, regional sales director and senior financial adviser trainer. He is also a certified financial planner. He has spoken to many Fortune 500 companies including John Hancock, Smith Barney, Morgan Keegan and Edward Jones, and has provided training services to thousands of both novice and experienced financial advisers.

Francavilla is the author of the newly published book, “The Madoffs Among Us: Combat the Scammers, Con Artists, and Thieves Who Are Plotting to Steal Your Money” (Career Press, 2018). Former police chief, Rick Myers, presently executive director of the Major Cities Police Chiefs Association, says of the book: “In my 40 years of policing I’ve encountered too many victims of crimes, many of which are aptly described in Bill’s book. It costs far less to avoid being a victim than to recover from being a victim and this message is a great inoculation against fraud.”

Francavilla received his B.A. in psychology from the University of Dayton. He had his executive education at the University of Virginia and received a securities industry certification from University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business. He is a resident of New Kent County, Virginia, where he and his wife of 46 years enjoy spoiling their grandchildren.
