Live Webinar August 12 on Superstar Investing: Fundamental Growth
by AAII Staff | August 06, 2020
Throughout history, there have been superstar investment “gurus” who have been able to outperform the market over long periods of time. For more than 20 years, AAII has tracked stock selection strategies based on our interpretation of dozens of investment professionals. Join AAII’s senior financial analyst, Wayne A. Thorp, as he discusses the methodologies of some of the market’s greatest investors.
For this installment, Thorp will review the deep value “contrarian” approach that John Neff used when he managed the Vanguard Windsor Fund. During his 31-year tenure at Windsor (1964 to 1995), the fund returned 13.7% annually versus 10.6% for the S&P 500 index. Specifically, Neff invested in low price-earnings stocks exhibiting steady, sustainable levels of fundamental growth.
Wayne A. Thorp, CFA, is the lead analyst and editor of the Stock Superstars Report. He is also the senior financial analyst and a vice president at AAII. He has spoken and written extensively on technical analysis, quantitative stock screening and fundamental stock analysis. Thorp is also the product manager for the A+ Investor investment discovery, analysis and tracking service and for the Stock Investor Pro fundamental stock screening and research database software. Thorp also serves as the vice president of the Alliance for Investor Education (AIE).
