Webinar Wednesdays: Superstar Investing Wrap-Up
by AAII Staff | August 13, 2020
If you missed our Webinar Wednesday on August 5, you can watch it here.
Throughout history, there have been superstar investment “gurus” who have been able to outperform the market over long periods of time. For more than 20 years, AAII has tracked stock selection strategies based on our interpretation of dozens of investment professionals. Watch AAII’s senior financial analyst, Wayne A. Thorp, discuss the methodologies of some of the market’s greatest investors.
For this installment, Thorp reviews the deep value “contrarian” approach that John Neff used when he managed the Vanguard Windsor Fund. During his 31-year tenure at Windsor (1964 to 1995), the fund returned 13.7% annually versus 10.6% for the S&P 500 index. Specifically, Neff invested in low price-earnings stocks exhibiting steady, sustainable levels of fundamental growth.
