Lately, you may have seen investment news headlines like “Millennials might not find bonds so boring anymore” and “The Fed Keeps Raising Interest Rates; Should You Start Buying Bond Funds Again?” If increasing your allocation to bonds has crossed your mind, you may be wondering where to start.
In the August 2022 AAII Journal, Hildy and Stan Richelson updated their insightful article, “Should You Buy Bonds When Interest Rates Are Rising?” They discussed the use of a custom ladder of high-quality bonds that could potentially produce consistent cash flow.
We followed up by asking the “collective brain” of investors in the AAII Income Investing Community about their experience with buying bonds in a rising rate environment. After only a few short minutes, we had countless people chime in on the subject:

Field Notes From the Chapters
We always got a chuckle out of the neon signs in Times Square that screamed “Live Girls.” You had to wonder what they used before their businesses got so successful.
We had similar thoughts about “live” meetings, as chapters emerge from the coronavirus pandemic. So far, attendance stats remain mixed. Some members are still too concerned about viral exposure, transit safety and night driving to venture out—and too darn comfortable with the “bunny slippers” convenience of Zoom. Or not.
This has driven chapters to embrace livestreaming. The AAII San Diego Chapter’s options special interest group (SIG) picked up new fans when it was cross-promoted through the AAII Options Investing Strategies Community. Our AAII New York City Chapter debuted new voices such as Stanley Dash of the Market Technicians Association, strategist Lyn Alden and economist Larry Siegel.
