The AAII San Diego Chapter continues to offer high-quality, practical education for individual investors through engaging, in-person meetings designed to both inform and connect.

While a livestream option is available for those unable to attend, we strongly encourage in-person participation. The in-room experience offers far more than a presentation—it creates opportunities to build relationships, ask deeper questions and engage with fellow investors in a meaningful way.

In 2025, the AAII San Diego Chapter has hosted a diverse slate of speakers, all offering valuable insights for today’s market environment.

• Jim Woods shared his investing strategy based on five key criteria for selecting winning stocks, giving attendees a clear and disciplined framework to apply to their own portfolios.
• Mark Skousen, economist and publisher of Forecasts & Strategies, offered a macroeconomic-level view of inflation, interest rates and long-term economic cycles.
• John Buckingham, editor of The Prudent Speculator, provided a grounded and disciplined approach to value investing, including current opportunities and the importance of long-term perspective.
• Experts on Medicare and Social Security presented on the most important financial issues facing retirees, offering guidance on enrollment, benefit maximization and regulatory updates.

Each presentation is curated to be both educational and immediately applicable for individual investors managing their own portfolios.

Special Interest Groups (SIGs)

For members interested in more specialized learning opportunities, we also offer two Special Interest Groups (SIGs) that meet occasionally throughout the year.

• Options Trading SIG offers a peer-driven forum for understanding and applying options strategies, from foundational techniques to more advanced use cases.
• Risk Management SIG is focused on tools, indicators and practices to help investors reduce volatility, preserve capital and manage downside exposure in today’s complex markets.

These smaller-format meetings provide space for deeper discussion and hands-on learning.
