An update on the Sentiment Survey, which polls members on their outlook for the market, and the Asset Allocation Survey, which measures members' holdings in stocks, bonds, and cash.

Sentiment Survey

AAII Sentiment survey results for January 2010
The sentiment survey measures the percentage of individual investors who are bullish, bearish and neutral on the stock market short term; individuals are polled on the AAII Web site; the percentages and averages are for all members responding.

  • Neutral: 31%
  • Bearish: 30%


Asset Allocation Survey

AAII Asset Allocation survey results for January 2010
The asset allocation survey measures the percentage holdings of members in five asset categories. Members are polled monthly from the AAII Web site; the percentages and averages are for all members responding.
  • Historical Averages
  • Stocks: 60%
  • Bonds: 15%
  • Cash: 25%

Updated results for both surveys are available by clicking on Investor Surveys under Tools in the left-hand navigation bar at AAII.com or going to www.aaii.com/membersurveys. The Sentiment Survey is updated every Thursday morning, while the Asset Allocation survey is updated on the first day of every month.
