annual report

A report filed by public companies with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). It has a letter to shareholders written by the CEO, updating shareholders on the company’s activities and performance over the past year. The annual report also includes audited financial statements, a management discussion and analysis of operations, notes to the financial statements and the report of independent auditors. The annual report is also called the 10-K.
