bull market
A prolonged rise in the stock market, usually exceeding 20%. During bull markets, investors are optimistic, economic prospects are high and strong market results are expected to continue for an extended period. When calculating performance numbers for AAII’s fund guides and stock screens, we look at the performance of several indexes to determine if a new bull market (or bear market) period has started.
