neutral sentiment

The percentage of investors who expect little to no change in the market over the short term. These respondents are neither bullish nor bearish, often reflecting uncertainty or a wait-and-see approach. AAII tracks investor sentiment in the AAII Investor Sentiment Survey by polling members each week on whether they feel that the direction of the stock market will be up (bullish), down (bearish) or unchanged (neutral) over the next six months. Shifts between neutral and directional (bullish or bearish) sentiment can be useful in gauging changes in investor conviction.
