Biography:

Charles Meyer, MBA, CFP, is sole proprietor of Meyer Consulting Services which provides financial, investment and business planning in Troy, Virginia. He began offering fee-only objective, comprehensive and affordable retirement planning for the not-yet wealthy in 1981 and was a federal and state registered investment adviser. Prior to founding his advisory firm, he spent five years in the transportation industry in strategic planning and econometrics, while continuing to pursue his interest in the stock market that began in high school. He was adjunct professor of financial planning at the New School for Social Research in New York City and designed a “Common Sense Financial Planning” seminar program. As a contractor to the U.S. Army at West Point, he adapted this program for Army Community Services (ACS), which offered company paid financial counseling for enlisted and junior officer post personnel. His practice advice on affordable fee-only financial planning has been featured in Commerce Clearing House Financial and Estate Planning Reporter, and his advice has been featured in various media among them: NBC-TV, FNN-TV, radio, US News & World Report and the AAII Journal. Since 1981, he has published a regular client newsletter “Perspectives on Planning” to educate and guide clients toward a comfortable and well-lived next half of their lives, with an emphasis on preserving wealth.
