Biography:
John Stepek has been writing about business, economics and investment for more than 20 years. He is the executive editor of investment magazine MoneyWeek, Britain’s best-selling investment weekly, and is the main author of its daily email newsletter Money Morning.
Before he became a journalist, Stepek worked for his family’s business, a chain of electrical retail shops in and around Glasgow, before deciding that he would rather write for a living. He also briefly worked in television, on a series of animated folk tales, but that’s another story.
He studied psychology at the University of Strathclyde and has always been fascinated by the gap between the way the market works in theory and the way it works in practice, and by how our deep-rooted instincts work against our best interests as investors. His work has been published in The Spectator and The Sunday Times as well as a range of specialist financial magazines. His first book, “The Sceptical Investor,” on contrarian investing, was published in March 2019.
John Stepek is the executive editor of Britain’s MoneyWeek investment magazine and author of “The Sceptical Investor” (Harriman House, 2019).
