Bond yields, dividend payouts, preferred stock, oh my! If you’re an investor focused on fixed-income instruments, you will want to keep reading.
Whether you are a beginning or seasoned investor, have a basic AAII membership or the complete bundled AAII Platinum package, trying to find the right fixed-income investments for an uncertain market can be confusing, overwhelming and downright frustrating. As an AAII member, we want to ensure you are getting the most out of your membership by providing you with the education you need to make informed decisions about what goes into your portfolio.
Within the AAII Community, you can find a group that fits your individual needs and goals. Unsure if municipal bonds are the way to go? Want to learn about the experience others have had by seeking high yields through junk bond funds? Want to bounce ideas off a group of people who already understand the fixed-income universe? Now, you can gain exclusive access to hundreds of AAII members as they each progress through their own investing journeys in the Income Investing Community.
In the AAII Community, you can ask other members about tips for successful income investing, how they’ve approached bond funds and strategies for building certificate of deposit (CD) ladders for a source of cash to protect against stock market downturns in retirement—all in the AAII Income Investing Community.
In conjunction with this issue’s article on I bonds, we have an open discussion thread in which we’ve asked AAII members about their perspectives and experiences with I bonds to hedge against inflation. Over 300 AAII members are actively discussing exciting topics you can take advantage of and participate in. Joining the Income Investing Community and partaking in the discussions are great ways to receive feedback on your own investing ideas, goals or strategy before entering the income investing world.
With six special interest groups (SIGs) and more to come, we’re certain you’ll find an AAII Community that fits your individual investing needs. Join the conversation and share your wisdom with other AAII investors today.

Field Notes From the Chapters
Just like the ability to join and participate in the online AAII Community special interest groups, your AAII membership also comes with the opportunity to engage with one or more of our 33 local chapters through the AAII Community. Chapters host live in-person and Zoom webinar events featuring some of the best thought leaders in the investment field.
In May, for example, you could have heard Matt McCall of the McCall Report regale the San Diego Chapter on “The Roaring 2020s: Invest in the Best Decade Ever for Innovation!,” financial educator Paul Merriman address the New York City Chapter on the “Ultimate Buy and Hold Strategy on Steroids” and award-winning newsletter writer Mark Skousen discuss “Puzzles & Paradoxes of Wall Street” with the Los Angeles Chapter. All for free, in the comfort of your home via Zoom.
Get involved and start reaping the benefits now. First step: Visit your AAII account page and “opt in” to your preferred chapter(s). Then visit the AAII Community and select Suggested Communities to bring up your desired communities and see their active discussions and updates. You are no longer limited by geography, but you can use it to enhance your AAII connection.
