Beyond Borders: Your Gateway to Global Market Investing With AAII

A community focused on helping investors like you understand the intricacies of both emerging and established markets around the world.

Navigating global markets can be daunting, especially if you’re stepping out of your comfort zone of domestic investing. The complexities of managing currency risk and understanding geopolitical dynamics can seem overwhelming, but what if you had a reliable resource at your fingertips?

Welcome to AAII’s new Community: Global Market Investing. This platform focuses on helping investors like you understand the intricacies of both emerging and established markets around the world. The Community provides a collaborative space for discussing geopolitical risk, currency considerations and unique investment opportunities.

Remember, your experiences and insights are the lifeblood of the AAII Communities. Whether you’re intrigued by Global Market Investing or another group that better aligns with your interests, we encourage active engagement in discussions.

To ignite conversations in our new Community, we’ve generated two questions based on our recent AAII Journal article, “Going Global: Mutual Funds and ETFs Targeting Regions and Countries”:

Field Notes From the Chapters

As the summer heated up, so did our chapter activities. First up, a multi-chapter webinar featuring cameo presentations by three marquee-level presenters (Craig Israelsen, Elisabeth Kashner and Keith Fitz-Gerald), each introduced by a national chapter leader, just like at the Oscars. We called it “Webinardigras,” a riff on the Fat Tuesday blowout celebrations that precede the dry, barren period of Lent. Of the 637 AAII members who registered nationwide, we received very encouraging feedback on the power of collaboration across chapters.

To our happy surprise, the AAII Chapter summer has been anything but dry. In July, you could have met top-rated AAII presenters like Chris Pedersen (Orange County), Katie Stockton (San Diego), James Park (Research Triangle), Scott Nations (Los Angeles), Jack Nussbaum (Houston) and Brian Livingston (Puget Sound).

Seen here, they may just be names on a list. If you belonged to the sponsoring Communities, they could be resources and food for thought. If you attended the webinars, they might have become new friends and trusted advisers. The new livestreaming model allows you to skim the surface or get deeply involved and everything in between.

Our autumn agenda, still in formation, will give you opportunities to connect online with Paul Merriman, Sam Stovall and Bruce Johnstone (New York City); John Kosar (Research Triangle); Raymond Rondeau (San Diego); and other luminous voices, both familiar and new. And it will all be more interesting and engrossing with you in the mix!
