Biography:
Matthew Crouse, CFA, MBA, Ph.D., is an adjunct professor at Westminster College in Salt Lake City, Utah, having received the 2016–2017 Gore School of Business Adjunct Faculty of the Year Award. His research interests cover closed-end funds (CEFs), exchange-traded funds (ETFs) and other fixed-income products targeted to retail investors.
Matthew worked for 15 years as an analyst and portfolio manager at the investment firm Western Investment LLC, a hedge fund focused on CEF arbitrage and activism. Prior to Western Investment, he worked in research and risk management for two energy trading firms. Matthew has a Ph.D. in electrical engineering from Rice University and an MBA in finance from the University of Houston. He is a holder of the right to use the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation since 2005 and is a member of the CFA Society of Salt Lake City.
